What is a BRP?

A biometric residence permit (BRP) contains your identity and biometric information. This includes your:

  • name
  • date of birth
  • facial image
  • fingerprints

A BRP shows your immigration status and can be used to confirm your entitlements while you remain in the UK. For example, it may say if you are a student or worker.
